I’ve been loving DIYs lately and my next project was of an easy dessert called Chocolate Bowl. Fans and users of Pinterest know about this since it’s been featured a lot and it has been one fancy treat for all of us to try, so I did my research and well: I realized that people who did this DIY are usually Americans because they have complete tools such as the tray, wax paper, and microwave. In addition, chocolates in the US are cheap compared here in the Philippines, so chances are of doing this project is that budget-wise and tools-wise; it seems hard… BUT it’s not impossible.

I’ll be honest, when I started this DIY, I don’t have all the tools. But it did not stop me. These are the things and ingredients you need.

FOR THE COMPLETE STUFF:

  • 2 big Tango chocolates (If you like you can have any chocolate you want as long as it’s pure chocolate)
  • Balloons
  • Wax paper
  • Microwave
  • Refrigerator
  • Fruits (for this, I had 1 apple, grapes, strawberry or any fruit you want)
  • Cream or Ice Cream
  • Pretzels
  • Oil (any cooking oil)

FOR THE NOT COMPLETE (YOU CAN USE):

  • 2 big Tango chocolates (SM Supermarket)
  • Balloons (Hannah’s)
  • Foil
  • Rice cooker
  • Steamer tray
  • Refrigerator
  • Fruits
  • Yogurt (Strawberry)
  • Pretzels (SM Supermarket)
  • Marshmallow
  • Oil (any cooking oil)

Preparations:

  1. Make sure you have your balloons washed up. Then, blow up the balloon.
  1. Wipe the balloon with a small amount of oil especially in the bottom top part of it.
  1. Chop your fruits, do not elongate. Much better if it’s in small squares.

Instructions:

  1. If you have microwave, just place the chocolates in a bowl and let it melt into liquid form. If not, you have to put a cup or two in the rice cooker to boil and place the steamer tray on top of it and then the bowl of Tango chocolate on top. Why? Because chocolate in direct heat might burn it that’s why we have to play safe and it’s good because it’s not that hot when you put the balloon right after, unlike when it’s microwaved, the heat burns your tongue. So, do this as long as everything is melted.
  1. From the microwave, let the heat of the chocolate subside. From the steamer tray, put it down the table.
  1. Get one balloon and then dip the tip into the chocolate. Don’t worry if not equal on the sides.

  1. Place it directly onto the tray with foil on it.

  1. Put inside the fridge and leave it for about 15 minutes for it to completely harden.
  1. If you want a thicker bowl, do the same process of #3-#5 as many times as you want. And then, in the fun part, POP the balloon!!!!!!!!!! (Get the excess balloons inside right after)

  1. After, Garnish your bowl with chopped fruits then put cream, ice cream or yogurt.

  1. If you have strawberries, the better. Chop it and put on top of the cream, ice cream or yogurt. If not, use marshmallows!
  1. Put two pretzels in X position to finish.
  1. Eat well, including chocolate bowl. *Warning* Do not repeat this part on your Chinese.

Well, there you have it. I made it on Christmas morning and it was really fine because it was a bit cloudy and cold and it was perfect.

This just goes to show that you can’t be stopped even if you have incomplete tools at home. I mean, you could put this online right after, to make others jealous of your project. You can do it! Cheers!

Don’t forget to share this to your friends!
