The most prestigious award giving body on Earth is almost at the reach of our television screens and it’s righteous enough to give some predictions to who will take the Oscars home with the metaphorical marquee of ‘Winner’ at the top of his head forever.
But it is well enough to give predictions in two perspectives, to see the comparison and contrast of two types of audiences that will determine the level of affection one category did to one perspective.
And in this Oscar prediction; we will only be tackling about the major awards for the evening which are:
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Actor
- Best Actress
- Best Supporting Actor, and
- Best Supporting Actress
There are numerous of good actors to good films on the list of nominees, but who stood out?
My Predictions
I’ve binged watch some of the Oscar nominated films and some were on random days, but in one definite fact I noticed was that there really is quite a good competition between films. And it’s true that there are favorites of mine that are included on my best.
Best Directing – Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity)
Best Supporting Actor – Jared Leto (Dallas Buyer’s Club)
Best Supporting Actress – Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle)
Best Actor – Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyer’s Club)
Best Actress – Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)
Best Picture – 12 Years a Slave
My Partner’s
Disclaimer: This is not a prediction. They are the ones I want to win. –partner
Best Directing – Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave)
Best Supporting Actor – Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips)
Best Supporting Actress – Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave)
Best Actor – Christian Bale (American Hustle)
Best Actress – Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine)
Best Picture – American Hustle
CONCLUSION
On the Best Animated Feature; there’s a battle between Frozen and The Croods, but we definitely bid on Frozen which did not only succeeded in creating a fairytale storyline, but definitely did penetrate every angle of it: from the plot to the characters to the dialogues and of course the music which did not only create a Last Song Syndrome to our ears but also did hit a top spot at the Billboard. And speaking of the music from the movie; I think Idina Menzel’s ‘Let it Go’ will win Best Original Song in the Oscars.
On the focus nominations on this post; my partner and I have only one the same result in Best Actress which is the memorable acting performance of Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine. My partner and I agree to the thought that although the story is just very nonchalant and simple; the acting of Cate Blanchett carried the entire movie as the success of it. And that’s a power of being a good actor/actress.
The rest of the categories, we definitely did not agree upon. Although my partner did put a disclaimer right before anything else (duh), he said it’s most likely just the same as a prediction, but he doesn’t like calling this as one.
I believe there is a great battle between good actors and good movies for the 86th year of the Academy. I also surely believe that it would probably be difficult for the jurors to vote upon who’s who will win this year.
The 86th Academy Awards will be on March 2, 2014 (U.S.), and will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.
